My name is Nathan Wood and I am currently a graduate student in Dr. Hongmin Qin’s Group at Texas A&M Department of Biology.
In the Qin Group, I helped quickly establish working areas and protocols for human cell culture research for a recently earned US Department of Defence grant, which is conducted alongside but not necessarily in linkage with our previous Lagerstroemia and Chlamydomonas research. In the Qin Group I have also come up with cost-reducing measures that have saved the lab greater than $2000 USD in cumulative expenditures.
For the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), we seek to gain a better understanding of how extreme environmental stressors impact lung cells, at this moment immortalized bronchial epithelial and microvascular endothelial cells.
I want to be part of a winning team that exploits the newest ideas to gain new insights and push things to new limits.
I am willing to relocate if needed.
My academic interests include:
- Examination of the response of human bronchial epithelial cells to extracellular pH stress
- 3D cell culture
- 3D printing
- Cell biology
- Optical microscopy and image analysis
My hobbies include:
- Amateur Radio
- Mathematics
- Computer graphics
- Computer hardware-software interface
